Thursday Night League - Competitive

Draft Details:

This is a draft-style league, where players register individually, and we have sets of captains who draft their teams in the hopes of getting an even spread of skill across the teams. We will aim for 4 or 6 teams, playing 4:3, so each team will draft up to 10 men-matching players and 8 women-matching players. We will base the number of teams on how many women-matching players sign up. 

This league is meant for players who are more experienced and skilled in ultimate so as to provide a higher level of competition. Registration will be open to everyone, but not everyone will be drafted. Captains consider skill level in their choices, but also highly weigh a player's ability to play considerately in mixed ultimate. Players who register and are not drafted will be notified by email and refunded their payments. In the registration process, there is a space for players to write about their past ultimate experience. You will have enough time to fill this out as the website holds your spot in registration. Please be sure to take the time to fill this out, especially if you are new to town as this really helps paint a picture of your ultimate experience.

Important Dates: 

Thursday night of Summer League runs June 8 through August 10, 2023. The end-of-season summer league tournament will be on Sunday, August 13 for Thursday night teams.

2nd tier: $85
3rd tier: $105

In 2023, Cincinnati Ultimate is adjusting to a 3-tier payment structure. The 2nd tier (in this case, $85) is the basic league fee. The 3rd tier is available for any participant who wishes to contribute extra funds to support those that unable to pay the full fee. The 1st fee is available for anyone who needs a smaller fee.

Your league fee covers the following:
- 10 weeks of summer league games
- a team jersey
- a disc (if you are a new participant in our leagues)
- an end-of-summer tournament, complete with a cookout

Age Requirement: 18 years of age or older as of 6/1/23*

*Exceptions to this rule will be allowed for players under 18 if they are playing with their parent/guardian on the same team (at least age 16 by 6/1/23).

League Formats

The goal is for all leagues to be 7v7, full-field, non-modified, and mixed ultimate (true 4:3 or 3:4) in format. 5:2 may be played as long as both captains agree to this PRIOR to the game. 

COVID-19 Considerations

• Participants should not come to the league if they are not feeling well, ESPECIALLY if they are showing any COVID-19 symptoms such as a fever, aches, chills, headache, and more as we do not want to put anyone at risk for any type of sickness. 

• Please follow the current Cincinnati Ultimate COVID-19 policies for if you test positive or suspect you may have been in contact with someone who has.

Jerseys

We recently polled the summer league crowd on their jersey preferences. We learned that the majority of people prefer the basic summer league jerseys, rather than opting to get a reversible option or increase the quality/price of jerseys. While some players still want the option to purchase a reversible instead of a summer league jersey, we're not able to implement that this summer but will work to next summer. 

We will be opening a team store through Breakmark soon where players can order a reversible and other Cincinnati Ultimate-themed merchandise, so stay tuned!

This year, we will still offer a jersey and a tank for all league players, and the sizing charts for these two brands are linked below. In 2022, there were some sizing issues because we ended up receiving multiple different brands of shirts due to COVID-19 supply delays. This year, the jerseys will all be one brand, and the tanks will all be one brand, so sizing will be consistent.

In order to get your shirts in the first week or two of summer league, complete your summer league registration by May 17th! 

Any registrations after that date may have their jersey delayed a few more weeks into the summer.
