Come out to see Xavier vs. Cincinnati battle it out

On Wednesday, March 14, 2012, Xavier University's Ultimate Frisbee team (BLOB) will host the University of Cincinnati (Cinister) in a USA Ultimate sanctioned event. The game will begin at 6:45pm at the Xavier University Soccer Complex on Victory Parkway. General admission begins at 6:15pm, with team introductions at 6:30pm.

BLOB, in its tenth season, is currently preparing itself to qualify for the USA Ultimate D-III National Championship Tournament. Cinister is looking to make a run deep into the USA Ultimate D-I College Series with a roster that's loaded with homegrown talent from Cincinnati's extensive youth ultimate program.

The event is free to the public, but donations are requested to support Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio and its Adoptive Parents Outreach Program (APOP). Among its many initiatives, Catholic Charities offers pregnancy counseling and adoption services to birthparents in need. APOP provides a support network for adoptive parents and those waiting to be placed, as well as financial support for Catholic Charities' counseling and adoption services.
(Suggested donation: Student: $1-$5, Adult: $5-$10, Families: $20).

Ultimate Frisbee was created in the summer of 1968, when The Founders experimented with rules while playing with a frisbee at Columbia High School. Ultimate expanded to colleges around the northeast and around the country and gained enough popularity where unofficial National Championships were held in the mid to late 70s. Eventually the Ultimate Players Association (UPA) was formed in 1979 to govern the sport of Ultimate in the US. Since that time, the UPA has grown by leaps and bounds, introducing College, Womens, Mixed, Masters, and Youth divisions, and becoming one of the fastest growing sports in the US. By the end of 2009, the UPA had grown to over 30,000 members. In late May, 2010, the organization transitioned from the Ultimate Players Association into USA Ultimate. (Source: USA Ultimate)
